How to Start Career in Real Estate in Ontario?

How to obtain a Real Estate License (Realtor Licence, Real Estate Agent) in Ontario!

In order to practice real estate in Ontario you must be licensed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). and you must have completed the mandatory licensing education program.

To be eligible to apply for real estate license you must:

  • Be a permanent resident of Canada
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a High School Certificate or equivalent
  • Complete Courses 1, 2, and 3 within 18 months
  • Obtain a Police Check
  • Register with a Brokerage
  • Apply to RECO
  • Obtain 2 year Provisional License
  • Complete 3 Articling Courses within 2 years
  • Apply to RECO
  • Obtain Permanent License
  • Complete Continuing Education – 24 credits per 2 years

To get your real estate license in Toronto, there are a series of courses that take need to complete. 

You are required to pass a total of six exams that includes 3 in the pre-registration period and 3 during the article period in order to earn your real estate salesperson (Realtor) license in Ontario.
